If you’re someone who snores, or have a partner that has this problem, then snoring prevention is indeed a serious matter. Many people treat it lightly and laugh it off, thinking that snoring is no big deal.

But did you know that snoring could actually cut off oxygen to the brain that could result in serious health problems like type II diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke and heart disease. Although this does not happen in every case it’s certainly worth taking note of and finding ways to stop snoring.

Snoring prevention is easy for some people, and yet for others it is difficult, and they cannot simply deal with it with over the counter medication.

If you have tried solutions such as sleeping on your side, wearing nasal strips and using throat sprays without success, then it might be time to look at surgery as an option. It may sound extreme but for some people this is the only way.

The Pillar Procedure To Help Stop Snoring

The soft palate in your mouth is often the main culprit when it comes to snoring. In an attempt to prevent snoring, this procedure involves stiffening the soft palate and it is also relatively painless and can be done quickly. In this procedure, there are implants that are about 18 mm long and 2 mm in diameter that are placed into the soft palate inside your mouth.

This can even be done at your doctor’s office or local surgery, with the help of only a local anaesthesia to handle the pain. Over time the implants will add structural support and help to stiffen the soft palate and this will stop the soft palate from vibrating at night when you sleep. This in turn helps to eliminate the problem of snoring at its source and has also been proved to be a very effective method of snoring prevention.

Surgery Designed To Prevent You From Snoring

For some, surgery to prevent snoring is often the only way that that they can go in their quest to stop snoring. There is more than one type of surgery that is carried out by doctors to cure snoring. Cautery assisted uvulopalatoplasty is considered one of the most effective surgeries, but as with all surgeries, nothing is guaranteed.

If in doubt, it is recommended that you talk to your doctor about the best way to overcome your snoring. Surgery may not be the first thing that you should try and it is often recommended that you try natural and alternative solutions first, before trying surgery.
